It’s been a while since I have eaten somewhere so good that it consumes all my thoughts and creates such a sense of urgency to return immediately. I must say I was thoroughly impressed with Whiskey Cake. From their appetizers to the main dish and especially the Whiskey Cake itself, I couldn’t have orchestrated a better food experience.
First, the group ordered the caramelized French Onion Dip with homemade kettle chips and a plate of Fire Roasted Shishitos. The dip was creamy, with loads of flavor, and the chips had the perfect crunch and seasoning. I didn’t know what to expect with the peppers, but was so impressed. They were evenly cooked and served with grilled lemon, smoked chili butter and sea salt… and no guilt!
The headliner was the Live Wood Grilled Salmon – I’m talking melt-in-your-mouth good. I substituted the green lentils for the roasted parmesan Brussel sprouts and I think they may have been one of the better life decisions I’ve made in a long time. With so many great choices to choose from, I have a feeling I will eventually try everything on the menu.
Now, to the dessert that makes appearances in all my dreams…the Whiskey Cake. My taste buds were picking up chocolate, caramel, butterscotch, whiskey and vanilla all at the same time. It is the hardest sensation to put into words….all that comes to mind is heavenly bliss. Not only was the proportion HUGE, one of the chef’s brought out a bowl of fresh whipped cream. I’m talking fresh – whipping it as he walked to the table fresh.
Overall, I would have to rank Whiskey Cake in my top 5 Dallas places to eat. Just thinking about my experience makes me smile.
