Komali.

One of the finest meals I’ve had while living in Dallas came from Komali. From the atmosphere to the margaritas to the salmon cooked to perfection, I was thoroughly impressed and am eager to go back and try other menu items. This upscale contemporary Mexican  restaurant doesn’t give you your typical Texas Tex-Mex options of plain old tacos, burritos and quesadillas…instead you get the privilege to choose from dishes such as Spicy Pork Ribs, Chile en Nogada, Aztec Pie, Seared Scallops, Lump Crab Cakes with Spicy tomato sauce, and Salmon in Adobo (which is what I choose). Adobo-marinated salmon grilled in a banana leaf, street corn, brussel sprouts and chorizo, cooked to absolute perfection. The picture does not do it justice. It was incredible.

I’m so glad I had some self control while eating the appetizer, which was also delicious and something I’d never eaten before.  You must order the Queso Fundido; melted oaxaca cheese with chorizo, poblano rajas, and mushrooms, served with house made corn and flour tortillas. It was delicious, worth the money and fun for the whole table to eat!

And I can’t forget the drinks. Wow! Order the Tamarind Margarita. It has a spiced rim that will make you order another. It is well deserved of the D-Best 2011 & 2012 Best Margarita in Dallas. (And that’s in Texas, Y’all! Impressive!!)

Komali is a must if you are in the DFW area. It is a great place to impress your date, go out with your girlfriends, or bring clients who are in Dallas doing business, I mean, only if you want to blow them away. Do yourself (and your tastebuds) a huge favor and eat at Komali.

Go on and seize the meal.
