The downtown Dallas restaurant scene continues to amaze me. The Woolworth transformed me back to Chicago in the 1940s. While I was drinking my beer, and watching the people scurry past as I watched from my table one the second floor the aroma from the kitchen continued to enhance my excitement about the meal I was about to devour. The menu was very diverse, and the staff very knowledgable and helpful with their recommendations. Below is just a glimpse of what my night looked like:
Above is the highly recommended Spanish Mac & Cheese, the Truffle Fries and the Baja Tacos. What a meal! The Mac & Cheese was phenomenal – chorizo, poblano rajas, raditori pasta, smoked tomato broth and heated to the perfect temperature to enjoy. I have never had anything like it before; it was spicy, cheesy and the homemade garlic bread was the perfect accompaniment. The truffle fries, we as delicious as ever, and came with house made ketchup (that had a kick). And the Baja Tacos were crunchy, perfectly cooked and seasoned, but could use a little more siricha aioli. I like things spicy!
If you are in the downtown area, looking for a great spot to grab a drink with friends, or impress your date, look no further than The Woolworth. My dreams seem to be full of my favorite dishes lately, and the Spanish Mac & Cheese had made a few appearances! They are also open for lunch!
Go on and size the meal.
