Ellen: My Long Lost Friend

I’m not sure where Ellen has been all my life, but I’m glad I found her. Ellen’s Southern Kitchen in the West End of Dallas is my new favorite restaurant. I started off with a Cafe Americano (Espresso & Water) and was dealing with an internal battle of which meal to order, breakfast or lunch. I guess that’s the beauty of Brunch.

I love a good sandwich, especially Chicken Salad or a BLT…Ellen’s had both. In the midst of going back and forth about which one to order I just blurted out Pork Tinga Tacos (Left field, I know). Man were they delicious!! Spicy pulled pork mixed with crispy potatoes and scrambled eggs, served with avocado, cheese, their homemade salsa and warm tortillas. Image

I proudly cleaned my plate with a smile on my face. My best friend got what she called, “the best oatmeal in the world”, accompanied with some amazing sausage patties. I tried both, she made a good life choice by ordering the oatmeal.

I will absolutely be back to try the rest of their menu in its entirety (they have a sandwich called the b.l.t.a.e involving bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado and a fried egg…I will see you there!). I was very impressed with the ambiance, the wait staff, the food, just the entire experience was very pleasant.
